A Stormie Tunnel is a strengthened version of the conventional polytunnel with greatly improved resistance against high winds.
Designed in north-west Clare, just off the Atlantic, a Stormie offers all the benefits of a greenhouse or polytunnel but with added strength to endure the harshest of weather.
Design Details
The storm proof design is achieved by attaching high strength 8mm twin walled polycarbonate to a pressure treated timber frame.
This frame is supported by heavy duty MDPE pipe frame, which is connected to the ground with galvanised tubular steel and concrete foundations.
Stormie Tunnels are 3.6 metres wide and between 5 and 9 metres long. Stormie tunnels are ideally sited North to South to maximise early morning and late evening light, and also deflect prevailing winds.
